@Frels Well, remember that Athena is rather notably competitive, kinda like Rainbow Dash, so she’d vie for that position so as not to be slighted by a trophy wife and a harlot. That and, as you noted, the whole “Almost everyone on Olympus is a prick” thing.

@BP Well, it has several sources, but the main selling point is the idea that Zeus had first pick on wives and chose Hera. Since Zeus never settled for less than the best, Hera was considered to be the most beautiful by tradition.
 
And for those saying “He didn’t marry Aphrodite because they’re related”, bear in mind that this is ZEUS we’re talking about. This was the man who INVENTED the golden shower. XD

@Frels Athena was basically the chick who was hot, but was so notably badass and protective of her chastity that it was best not to think about it. XD
 
Actually, by all accounts, Aphrodite was one of the few members of the Pantheon who wasn’t some degree of douchebag at all times. Worst she did was cause and engage in some infidelity. XD

Hera was just the trophy wife. She just kind of lay there like a sack of potatoes while he fucked her. Aphrodite wasn’t quite as pretty, but she fucks like a derailed train loaded with C4.
