Wait… Are you replying to a copypasta and arguing over it? Dude… Damn… Dude… Stop!

You are not mistaken on Rick’s behavior and the show’s mood in general though. I do end with a bit of bitterness whenever I see any episode, and season 3 kind of sucked. But I generally detox with something wholesome afterward.

I actually watched a video by Dr. Layman which explained why, despite him enjoying the show, he hated many things of it, and I feel the same way.

Eh, I disagree. You don’t have to be smart or understand half of the smart references to enjoy it. But then again, depends on what you enjoy. If you like the gross, raunchy humor, you’ll be fine no matter who you are. If you like the complex themes be driven in an exaggerated comedic light that still hold some bearing, you also enjoy it.

Me personally, I liked it at first, but its message about the meaningless of the universe and how Rick is everyone’s favorite, even though he has zero personal morality or responsibility, just leaves me in a bad taste. I guess I’m not a fan of mean spirited stuff, and it gets tiring to have almost every episode have someone or something beaten to a pulp to an absurd degree and be told life is meaningless. Gets fucking tiring. Not a bad show, just not for me.

It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand
was that adapted from a rant, from a character on rick and morty? because that’d be awesome.

No, I just googled the Reddit post can copypasted

You can’t deny the part of it making all nerdy things trendy though. At first it was a good thing, everyone now wanted to like nerdy things… Sadly the busybodies who once censored fantasy for “demonic content” and sought to apply the “Comics Code” to comic books returned censoring all nerdy things for “bigotry” and trying to implement the “Bechdel test” on everything.

It is not the show’s fault, but sometimes I wish geek stuff never became trendy so we could have remained safely in the dark away from those who will gladly censor us.

I find it dull, boring, and bland. Not to mention I rarely laugh at the jokes, and feel it made “Geek culture” trendy to the point of attracting moral busybodies back into it with new complaints.

True enough.

I know a guy who pretty much went like that because I shared an article panning the show and its fans, proving my point by doing so.
The funny part is I do enjoy the show and have fun watching it, but I do not find it superb as its fans do, and in general recommend it only with a warning that it might not be enjoyable for everyone.
In fact I find many episodes both predictable and depressing since season two. It is often the season starts and finales which work right.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. There’s also Rick’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily fromNarodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they’re not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick and Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick’s existencial catchphrase “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub,” which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev’s Russian epic Fathers and Sons I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon’s genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools… how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a Rick and Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand

Big Bang Theory is a show for dumb people about dumb people pretending to be smart people. House is actually about smart people.
