I’ve noticed that the majority of people that applaud this childish behavior are background ponies. Don’t have enough courage to take full pride in this with your accounts? Don’t want them associated with this?

I’m saying that if she’s going to go out of her way to call out people she doesn’t know for drawing pictures that aren’t to her liking for their own amusement among themselves, she should really reconsider capping the message off with telling them to “get a life”.
Well, let it never be said I couldn’t be conciliatory. I’m willing to admit that I may have misunderstood exactly what you meant in your original statement. I may not personally agree with you about the “get a life” point, but since you were nice enough to recognize that she has the right to be offended by such content, I am sorry if I made it sound like you had said otherwise.

The sheer irony of taking the time to make this tweet directed at random people who aren’t bothering you for drawing pictures you don’t like and then capping it off by telling them to get a life.
She has every right to take it personally. This is a character she has given a voice for years now. A character she has associated herself with. It’s a character created to be a loving and caring mentor by someone she respects personally; a character that represents something significant to children and adult fan alike, and a character she herself probably cares about. And she just learned it has been associated with a philosophy the could define vile and grotesque. A movement that represents one of humanity’s lowest, most unconscionable moments.
 
It offends by existing, and I commend her for not withholding her judgement it.

There’s much worse stuff than that out there. This is the internet. They’re more creative about messed up stuff than any one person is.
The fact that worse stuff exists does not make pretty bad but not worse stuff right. Nor is it a suitable excuse to ignore behavior that falls into that category.
 
You kinda get used to it.
And that’s a problem. The kind of viewpoints put forth by Nazis should not be anything people “get used to”.
 
And what’s with all this recent sudden “I hate Nazis” stuff? That’s a juvenile stage I went through when I was like 8. Do you really need to go around proclaiming that you hate the instigators of atrocities?
I imagine it’s at least partially related to a recent event in the US where a group of Nazis, KKK, and other associated white supremacists were involved in the injury and death of other people, and the top official of the government, a man noted for flying off the handle and lashing out at so many other minor things, took an extended period of time to dribble out a tepid response he almost immediately backtracked on, leading to the impression he might condone such behavior. It’s kind of a big deal and rather obvious to anyone capable of looking at literally any news feed from the US for the last week or so.
 
I mean, is that where our bar of a “good person” is now?
Somewhere above “not a Nazi”? It ought to be. I mean, there’s really not much under that. It’s literally putting the bar at ground level.
 
Go volunteer at some charity or something if you want to be a “good guy.” Do something that requires more than literally twiddling your thumbs and getting mad.
Equally as important to the progression and advancement of our society as community service is inciting the public interest and attention to atrocities committed by individuals, groups, and governments. Making people aware that this is an issue that is looked upon negatively and bringing attention to that fact is an important aspect of fostering an environment where these attitudes cannot thrive.
 
People often go to Nazism if they feel outcast or downtrodden, so doing that more is just gonna make them cling harder.
Actually it’s not entirely that. There’s also the memetic element combined with very carefully manipulated data and cherry picked examples.
 
But, it’s not like you can really engage and discuss with a 140 character limit…
Perhaps. But you can make your feelings known, draw attention to the issue, and many other things aside from that. And sometimes, that’s equally as important.

And being tolerant does not mean you have to tolerate intolerance.

Billions of years, not thousands. And as a G class star it’s not massive enough to Supernova, and it would need to be orbiting a black hole to nova . It will turn into a red giant, burn the earth, gently shed outer layers into a planetary nebula, and remain a white dwarf forever, with the earth forever orbiting and being solidly glassed, perhaps.
 
But in billions of years I think we’ll have the tech to save the Earth, if we’re still around and care to.
