Thorax all the way , he’s a sweetheart and I love him. But Ember is pretty cute and cool.

Ember

Dragons have fighting experience on their side. After all, some of them are insanely huge, I don’t think changelings could change into some of the larger ones. I mean look at the size of Ember’s father (and he seems more rational than most dragons)
 
However on the flip side, Changelings have numbers and co-ordination/ambushes on their side, since most Dragons can be a bit hard-headed about stuff. However, they do not have the benefit of draining Love from the dragons to become godlike anymore (though that might have been only a Chrysalis thing anyways).
 
Both can fly. Dragons have firebreath/fireballs, changelings have lasers. Dragons have tough scales, changelings have hard insect exoskeletons.
 
Sadly there isn’t really enough rules about each race to really know their effectiveness in a war setting. So I could see it go either way depending on who’s writing the story. Personally I’d prefer the changelings though. =)

How will the people caught inbetween win? Simple, kill until one side starts to retreat.

None I’m just going to sit back and watch both sides destroy each other.
