It’s funny because not a single aspect of Neon Exodus Evanjellydonut was in any way derivative or referencing earlier work familiar to its intended audience.
It’s almost like, occasionally, people who are in the field of producing entertainment will draw upon things that they know people were entertained by for their own works. Or sometimes even things that they themselves were entertained by to make something fun for the viewer to see.
