Pretty much the same thing happened to EQG AJ’s parents as did MLP AJ’s. See, the EQG universe is enslaved to the MLP one, to make sure that each coupling happens there as it does in the other, so that each pony in Equestria has a counterpart in the other world.

No, fiberglass patch job. As in using fiberglass to fill in holes made in sheet metals. it is the super cheapo way of patching up holes.  
It usually ends up looking patchy and off colour like on big macs pickup or looking like a raised lump in the paint.

That’s just faded paint on sheet metal. It is highly unlikely he that a truck that looks like that has any fiberglass, at least any significant fiberglass parts.

I went back and checked that pick up and it looks like it has 2 dents in the front bumper and it is covered in what looks like holes cheaply patched up with maybe a fiberglass patch job? Just some rusty old holes patched up? Or deadly penetration holes?

Maybe a small, low speed one. Nothing bad enough to kill someone. That would take the car being totaled, and even then something old with lots sheet-metal like that truck could take quite the impact. I know from personal experience… Lost an El Camino in a rather high-speed collision. Got t-boned by a quickly accelerating SUV, but both the passenger and I came out okay.
 
TL;DR  
The dent on the bumper does not mean that a very deadly car accident happened. It likely means he had a small fender bender, or hit a rock. No death could’ve come out of that dent.
