And that’s one of the reasons why I enjoy this show so much. Definitely a good move on the part of DHX/Hasbro.
You know those episodes could have easily have just been the characters celebrating that they achieve their goals.
But instead what they did was a lot more mature

Rainbow Dash is actually in the Wonderbolts.
Twilight has her own student, and is also an aunt.
I always saw Flutter Brutter as the resolution to Fluttershy’s character arc. We finally got to see her upbringing, and gained insight into why she was the way she was. She then returns to that upbringing with the strength and experience to transform her brother in a way that her parents never could.
The CMC have grown up, and now have jobs.
Equestria now has diplomatic ties to The Dragons, The Yaks and The Changelings.
So far, Season 7 seems to be about taking a breather and processing these changes. I actually really like how they’ve gone from having goals to having lives and responsibilities.
And that’s something I don’t like much.
“background characters + Starlight” - There’ve been two episodes that more or less meet that description: “All Bottled Up” and “A Royal Problem”. Every other episode has had at least one character from the Main 7 and/or the CMC among the lead characters. Let’s try to keep things in perspective: It’s not that this season has been pushing the main characters to the side, it’s that they’ve been sharing the spotlight with minor and supporting characters more often than each other so far.

I’ve deliberately been avoiding spoilers for upcoming episodes, so this is the first I’ve seen about the second half of the season apparently having more episodes featuring multiple main cast members together; thanks for the information.
I still find it troubling that you somehow believe they are being replaced (they are not), but if that’s how you truly feel, then so be it.
…… look, I’ve been attached to the Mane 6 for so many years, and them getting replaced is something I’m not fine with. That’s why I won’t watch the S8 (and possibly the S7 finale) and I will quit with the Movie: it’s potentially their last shining moment. So please leave me alone and let me doing my thing. Ok?
