Someone commented a idea on the DA page of this:
I can see they bring in Nightmare Star by saying she’s Celestia corrupted by dark magic while Daybreaker is Celestia who unleashed those inner destructive powers and form(still a power from the light, but a very destructive kind)
And you know what? I think it might work.
