Giant Twilight #16

Twilight checks up on her home before moving on to bigger things. Totally not trying to show off or anything.

Rainbow Dash is relaxing in a cloud when a purple tint starts blocking the sky
Rainbow- “What the hay?!”
The purple tint slowly grows larger and larger until Rainbow can clearly make out the socket of a gigantic pony’s eyeball
Rainbow- “No way, a is that… TWILIGHT?! WHY IS SHE SO HUGE?!”
Twilight opens her eye causing the pony’s to panic thinking she’s going to devour the entire planet to sate her ever-growing hunger, but the feared destruction never comes. Twilight sends a simple message to the planet through Telephely
Twilight- “Don’t be scared everypony, I might have gotten a little bit… utterly massive but I’m still the same pony at heart, I wouldn’t dare eat the planet that I spent most of my life on!”
Her horn begins to glow, shining like a star and casting a blinding, but at the same time calming light on the planet.
Twilight- “I fully intend to protect my home-world and preserve all the happy memory’s of my friends as this spell runs it’s course.”

Interestingly enough, at that scale the Moon could easily transit in front of Twilight’s eye. If it’s orbit had radius 30 times larger than the planet’s diameter (as is the case with our Moon’s orbit) and if it hadn’t been devoured, there would still be more than enough room to spare (roughly half a million kilometers). Even if she were just 400 000 kilometers away - making the Eye in the Sky ~100 degrees wide (more than half of human visual field) - it would still be possible.

This is awesome. Eye in the Sky should become a more common trope in giant pone artwork. Why stop there, there should be a whole subgenre related to astronomical phenomena.

The way I see it, it’s fine. Judging from previous panels(this one may not show accurate relative size because of blur and perspective), at this point the eye is about 70-80 times wider than the planet’s diameter. Or roughly 1 million kilometers if the planet is Earth-sized. Assuming (generously) that the Eye in the Sky has angular diameter of around 60 degrees (occupying 1/6 of the horizon), it would have to be about 850 000 kilometers from the planet - or around a few inches from her point of view. Which is feasible. And undeniably awesome.

So, in science, an Aeon is 1 billion years. So, as the Aeon hand is functioning as an hour hand, that means that there are 24 billion years in a universe-mare day, and during that day the three hands meet twice. As such, since the universe is 13,800 billion years old, there have been exactly 575 universe-mare days, or 1150 happy-land minutes. The universe has had 19.2 happy-land hours, and we’re exactly 4/5ths of the way to experiencing a happy-land day. It’s just 3,450 billion years away! See you then.

Well, how do i say this? the point of my comment was to say that this is a draw about a giant unicorn bigger than the planet that live in a world where the moon and the sun are dictated by magic, so you can’t really make the assumption that everything works like in our world, i don’t even know if the time flows like ours!, so just chillax and enjoy the art :v

Well.. for starters, Equus is ludicrously of-scale here since Twilight’s size more than doubled in the previous page where Equus already were portrayed as smaller than in this picture.

In the wide shot of her and Equus it appears as though she is a bit closer to…. although… I brought up how large she should be so… maybe she’s further away than I first thought. I first thought she appeared “beneath” Equus but if their relative sizes are maintained then Equus would be quite a lot closer to the camera than Twilight…
Why did you have to eat all points of reference Twi? I can’t figure it out now
yttyr

That eye in the sky is WAY too small! All that would be visible in that frame would be her pupil with just a bit of the iris showing in the corners.
However if I was on Equus I wouldn’t worry too much about that because we would start hurtling towards her at an increasingly ludicrously fast speed to our imminent destruction!!!

Also, is that the sun in the background or did her presence fling the Equestrian moon out of orbit? No wait… She’s already eaten it. Never mind

Will she eventually be even bigger then Demonbane (which is the size of a Universe)?
