Sure. I’m not saying that isn’t true. I’m just saying there is some in canon reason for associating Pinkie’s full name and her flat hair style. Her mother used to flatten her hair and her parents were calling her “Pinkamena”, so it’s all kind of represents what her parents wanted her to be. Sure, when she got her cutie mark they’ve accepted her for who she is, but you know. Both flat hair and full name are, sort of, marks of what her life was before the cutie mark. And for me that’s enough of a connection.

No, even with the fluffy mane, Cloudy and Igneous would still call her Pinkamena, with Pinkie being a nickname everyone calls her by.

Not exactly. Pinkie was called by her full name back at home (at least that’s the assumption) and she had flat hair style back then. So associating flat hair Pinkie with the name “Pinkamena” actually makes sense and has nothing to do with the fandom.
 
What fandom did is started associating Pinkamena with ruthless murder.

On Brits dropping the g in magdalene, it depends. Sometimes we do, sometimes we don’t.
 
There’s a Magdalen college at both Oxford and Cambridge universities. They don’t pronounce the name the same way.

Nick would know how her name was spelled.

close. maud is the medieval form of matilda, which is of germanic origin. maudalina appears to be based off of madeline, which is indeed the english/french cognate of magdalene, which is of hebraic origin.
 
also, the brits dropping the “g” in magdalene is definitely a surprise to me. are you sure you’re not thinking of the irish name madailéin?

It was the fandom that gave the name to flat-hair Pinkie, so I don’t think it was the intent.

ok, we have a problem here. unlike pinkie pie, maud doesn’t have an alternate personality we can use her full name as tag for it, that makes her full name tag redundant.

I’m not sure if their names are suited for that, but at the very least, I’d guess something like, I dunno, Marbella Dorothy Pie and Limestonette Daphne Pie, lol

Actually, it should be spelled “Magdalena”. Americans pronounce it mag-da-lee-na, but the British pronunciation is maud-lee-na, close to how Pinkie does it. It’s the origin of the name Maud, so it fits.
