That’s mainly because in MOST descriptions the two go hand in hand.
How is that vampire controlling her son? Well it ain’t the Stare I can tell you that much:p
Sure “real” hypnosis may not work that way, but that’s how it works in most pieces of fiction.

Tag the genders

It’s interesting how many things are marked with both hypnosis and mind control. As per the tags, it can only be one or the other. From what I can tell, this is mind control. Hypnosis, by the site’s description, must not make them do things they normally, wouldn’t, it only opens the mind to suggestion, while mind control is when they no longer act as they normally would, but rather, are under control.
