What about the wing generating spell? Self levitation is certainly a good idea in a pinch, but if you lost focus you’d plummet. The wings just seem safer.

I dunno man(or woman, not entirely sure which) it’s just the only thing i can’t tolerate. Pleanty of stuff annoys me to high hell but i can deal with it. But to have someone with all that time spent to gain a better understanding of the world around us and at the same time be so close minded when presented with new information.

but yeah that makes sence. I can see Twi just saying “oh that’s impossible i won’t worry about it” and that’s one of the reasons she isn’t my favourite pony. she is smart as hell but doesn’t have the right mindset to take advantage of it. minor flaw but it’s one that hits me wrong. i personally can’t stand people like that in real life (doing lots of schooling and so people studying to be chemist and physicist but don’t keep that right outlook on the world that i feel is so very important if you are going into that line of work.

so the only thing preventing them from floating off into space is because they believe in gravity and if they suddenly decided gravity wasn’t real they wouldn’t be bound by it’s laws … i’ll be honest if the world worked that way i’d abuse the living fuck out of it. probably get myself killed and cause massive amounts of large scale destruction, not on purpose (at first)

I’m still assuming that self-levitation takes absurd amounts of concentration for adult unicorns to pull off. That or they’re perfectly fine being on the ground.
 
One reason I’ve heard as to why Pumpkin was able to do it so easily was that as a foal, she has no understanding of ‘limitations’. Hence her being able to self-levitate. And phase. And teleport.
