well that’s interesting. I didn’t know that full color horses could have contrasting skin colors.
We have about 9 white and light-gray horses in stable and one of them is pink-skinned + two others have mottled skin. Others are normally black skinned. Commonly white marks on horse fur have pink skin underneath, but if you have full color than it’s not that obvious.
really? I thought most horses had pink skin where they had white hair, like paint horses would look all splotchy when shaved. I’ve certainly never seen a white furred horse that had black upper thighs where the fur was thin…
Remember that fur on horse belly is even shorter and it gets shorter up to dissappear just right next to genitals. So there would be no fur fluff if hairs slowly shorten to zero, same on legs next to their balls.
I have seen stallion balls before, even if I forgot important facts about them. but “it’s short fur” is no excuse for ignoring the transition from fur to skin. there should still be a furry edge, for best effect.
on horses, hair and skin are similar colors. dark hair means dark skin, light hair means light skin. horses generally only come in “brown” and “white” though, so colorful furred ponies could have any color of skin.
True, true. The lack of colour on the hooves I assume is a result of trying to keep the style similar to the show, but the lack of obvious fur around the genitals is actually kind of realistic. Horse fur is really short, so there’s no obvious fluffy bits around their naughty bits in real life. It’s actually a very sudden and jarring change in appearance.
ponies have hooves the same color as their fur, so there’s no reason to think it couldn’t apply to other exposed parts of the body.
anyway the sheath and balls would very much be furred. perhaps he shaves the fur off them?
maybe it’d look better to me if there was a bit of fluff on the edge to show where the fur is ending and the unfurred skin beginning.
You have to remember their body is covered in fur, whereas everything down there is bare flesh. Your hair and skin don’t have the same colour, now do they?
Personally, I like the way it stands out. It really highlights the fun bits, and ends up making the character seem that much more nude.
