Not quite. She’s these kind of tentacles with a hive mind hiding in an artificial pony costume to masquerade as a pony because they’re lonely and want companionship.

Trixie was in the Crystal Empire because it was literally the place to be, and there were a lot of crowds; the main draw, of course, was whenever the Crystal Heart let off a burst of energy. The latest burst had just happened, but rather than ponies admiring themselves, they were running away. “What is going on? Trixie demands an answer?”
 
Looking around in shock, Cuddlhu lifted a transparent hoof up. “Please, I don’t want to hurt anypony!” It was no good; even she could see her squirming tentacles under the suit. “Please? I just—”
 
“What has Trixie found now? Hello.” Trixie admired Cuddlhu with a completely not-terrified expression. Since her run in with some reluctant yet ultimately quite fulfilling tentacles, Trixie had found herself imbued with less than the usual amount of terror at the creatures. Most tentacle monsters didn’t talk. Most tentacle monsters didn’t walk around like ponies.
 
“H-H-Hello?” Cuddlhu lifted her head and looked at the only pony not running away. “I-I-I’m Cuddlhu. Who—”
 
“You are standing before the Great and Powerful Trixie!” It was second nature, Trixie had to cut in and be the star of the show—even when there wasn’t a show. “But,” she lowered the intensity of her voice, “you seem to be in quite a… state.” She had been practicing; Trixie had friends now who liked to be asked about. “Can Trixie help?” She had barely a moment before the transparent-suited tentacle monster was on her, but unlike a normal tentacle monster (that Trixie had only cuddled because she was in heat, and not all the other times when she just wanted to snuggle) all Cuddlhu did was hug with her “legs.”
 
“I thought ponies were nice, they seemed nice until they saw I was… I was a monster…” Cuddlhu sobbed, or at least she made plenty of goop leak from her eyes. “Can’t they just see the pony inside all… this?”
 
Trixie waited out the sobbing, stilted speech. “Ponies can say hurtful things sometimes, Cuddlhu. Trixie has experienced some of the worst things even the nicest ponies can do. Come on, let’s go to Trixie’s wagon and we can have a nice cup of tea.” The hug grew a little more intense. “T-T-Trixie will need to breathe to reach the wagon!”
 
“Sorry!” Cuddlhu couldn’t stop the smile forming on her lips. “You aren’t scared?”
 
“Trixie has been to the bottom of a changeling hive, she has been deep enough in a manticore to smell what they had for breakfast the day before,” Trixie grinned and led her new friend away, “she has even been in the Castle of Friendship, and learned a lesson.”

That would actually be absolutely wonderful. The only problem is that then she would never want to leave.

Looking at it from a different angle though, the crystal heart could “sense” that she is actually, at heart, a pony and her crystalized appearance could hide the seams and make her look 100% like a pony :D

It’s also that these tentacles are by nature the ones from every hentai ever. The ones in this suit are the exception to the rule, so the pony’s fear is fairly justified.

Well, seeing tentacle vine things and seeing tentacle vines things walking about in the apparent skin of a fellow pony are two very different things

You really think ponies would be so freaked out? It isn’t like they have seen tentacle-like vines and things before. These ones are nice enough to say “hello.”
