Looking at the comments below, I only have this to add: Writers shouldn’t be afraid or hesitant to explore darker aspects of themes, settings and characters we know and love just because it is unsettling to us. Denying the darker reality of what happens in those stories and the implications they have on the world and about the people depicted doesn’t make it go away, and avoiding them wastes a lot of potential for narratives and themes that we could be exploring and making readers think.
 
We could play Majesty COMPLETELY IN CHARACTER as she was originally portrayed and STILL use her to explore hard themes and character traits by showing her struggles in dealing with them.

As much as I would love to see a villain that’s someone that is too forceful when dealing with antagonist (a Knight Templar, according to TV Tropes), and even have Starlight try to talk them out of it, being the one that understands their reasons the best, but failing, but the show has a history of unnecessarily redeeming villains, and I dread that if they do do that, it would end unsatisfying.

That’s probably the biggest hurdle to understanding Majesty as a character. We only get to see her in very specific situations where her version of justice is that the punishment matches the crime. Without getting to see her in more varied situations, it’s hard for folks to keep balance.
 
I get that Majesty is a more hardline in dealing with opponents, but this contrasts against what we see in so many other MLP stories that the extreme becomes her defining trait. If you do find a comic that helps balance out her presentation, please let me know via DM. I’d like to read it.

…Y’know, I’m not entirely sure… Trouble is, it seems like the only comics she was in that are on here are the ones that involve her dealing with villains, and I’m not sure where to find some others that don’t involve that…

An evil wizard had forced ponies to mine treasure for him for so long they went blind. Applejack kicked him into a chasm that went to the other side of the world, but I think its safe to assume the wizard wouldn’t survive the trip. The shattered gems embedded in the blind ponies eyes, restoring their sight and creating the crystal eyed ponies of the toy line.

It’s good to have some counter points in play. What are some comics/books that show Majesty’s traits outside of dealing with villains?
 
Most of the comics I’ve read featuring her depict that she punishes villains with the same misfortune they inflicted upon others. Though there’s a strong argument to be made that they’re getting what they deserve, I tend to view ponies as merciful.
 
Then again, Applejack straight-up murdered a guy in one comic and so the G1 comics might just be darker in tone overall. Yet it’d be good to balance Majesty out with some other examples where she is more nurturing than “avenging”.

MAJESTY. WAS. NOT. A. VILLAIN. She wasn’t even a Knight Templar. She was just the quintessential example of “good is not nice”.
 
I’m gonna be blunt: I hate how people only see her as a Knight Templar now thanks to Silver-Quill’s video.

You’re not Majesty… Majesty only ever wore her regalia when she HAD TO.

So far, Tirek is the only antagonist to appear so far, and a few more wouldn’t be a bad idea, (Movie spoilers) though we’re promised creatures returning, like the cat-people and sea-ponies, so there’s still hope.

I’ve been making my own contributions to the “Two Sides” series for a little while now, and I’ve been including various G1 characters. Majesty was indeed on my “to do” list already.
 
But SQ’s video you could say “inspired” me to move her to the front of the queue. ^_
 
I love the idea of more of these old G1 villains being brought into G4. I just hope the writers handle them well.
