Since I was unable to see the resemblance between the two characters (other than mane color), I was pretty sure this actually was a joke.

They’re not the same, but I’d say the designs are similar enough to be notable. Additionally, i vary PB’s colours pretty widely picture to picture, so they are closer in places.
Not a big deal, it just amused me.
