According to the Synopsis we got, Storm king rules the lands to the south. So its possible the southern lands are highly technologically advanced under his rule but lack magic.

It’s for a few years now that I wonder if there is, somewhere on Equus, another pony nation that has very highly advanced technology, but that Equestria does not know about it because it’s so far away, so the ponies there never heard of them.  
This might be indeed true. Maybe Tempest Shadow comes from that far away pony nation.
 
Or, maybe, the Storm King has used the electrical energy from the thunderstorms he created and was in that way able to develop such a vehicle.  
If that is the case, he is indeed a very superior enemy and it’s no surprise they need to enlist the help of another kingdom to defeat him.
 
 
With one of these two ways it is definitely possible that Tempest Shadow has that vehicle and that it’s not just for the toy.

That’s a pretty good headcanon. Though, I don’t think they’d even imply humans were ever a thing in MLP. Other than the movies, of course.

I’m currently headcanoning that the Ponies all crash landed on a generation ship eons ago and there’s a bunch of Sci-fi tech buried under the ground waiting to be Unearthed

Nah, but seriously. Will this be in the movie? What about that hippogriff? My bet is that the GoH toys won’t actually be canon. It just shows the characters in more badass ways, like Twilight riding a greed-powered Spike. Awesome, but ultimately not a part of the show.

I know this thing won’t be in the movie but it’s still surreal seeing a pony being sold alongside what looks like one of those GI joe vehicles.
