I feel like I have to say this every once in a while.
 
It’s not really a matter of what they do but how much people want to see it. Actors and actresses get paid not for doing all of that stuff you mentioned, because the market demands it, and they can swing their going rates. Albeit a slightly different setup where their money comes from an owner under a salary cap, football players get their money because their market demands it.
 
In fact, it’s because it’s non-essential that the money can vary. With stuff coming from civil servants, their services have to be affordable, so a lot of those must be accessible meaning they are going to get paid as much.
 
But when it’s not a necessity, the only thing that can really adjust what athletes eventually get paid is the market. Or long made short, viewers (in number and zeal) pay them. I’m not going to knock athletes in the same way I don’t knock actors. Knock the viewers, if you must. But then again, I’m not going to tell someone where they should spend their entertainment money.

Well I don’t see what the problem is Pinkster. These pro athletes get millions of dollars a year to do what they do. I’m guessing that means they are saving lives, feeding people, doing charitable things or something right? Right? There must be some mega white collar benevolence in there. Yep. Must be.

like anything, its annoying when people shove it in your face. football is good, just understand that some people e.g. me and op, prefer not to hear about it.

I remember when I would play MMORPGS and in world chat about a dozen people would scream GOAL! In all caps, and stretched out to the maximum character limit.
 
I may not care about sports, but other people do not care about things that I like. Fair is fair :D
