What you really want to say is that big political discussions should be taken to the forums regardless of an image being about or relating to politics.
 
Calling it unrelated and off topic is just gonna cause confusion as it clearly is related. Site rules would need to be changed to include the exception of politics. I think people would get really worked up if they got a ban over something that wasn’t specified in the rules as an exception. Worse yet being banned over something said in a forum by a mod or banned for pressing post after typing out something that breaks the unwritten rule just after a post by a mod telling users not to post that.
 
Should I post about this on site and policy for discussion or something?
