It only activates or (I should say) strengthens when someone dies within the range of its absorption(?) field and it actually prevents rot you just turn to dust or liquify depending on what else might be affecting you.
It was already injured, if I recall.
Zebra voodoo mixed with evil soul-sucking starmetal makes fields that litterally drain the life from anyone nearby, meaning they basically fall apart like a rotting corpse but are still alive while it happens. And someone thought this would be a good idea for a pest control charm, which is why it mostly occurs in underground areas.
…Well, that and the giant meteor buried under the city that’s the source of said soul-sucking starmetal.
It was a thing called The Enervation, which is hella hard to explain without going into deep spoilers and even then I dunno if I can explain it properly.
Edited because: spelling
Well, yeah, I know that. In-story, it might be magic radiation or something. And per The Hittite, that’s what it was.
Some sort of anti-life field called enervation. Stuff caught in it dies at the cellular level and just sort of melts. I never finished the story so I don’t know what it actually is beyond that.
Realistically speaking, it would take A LOT MORE than any amount of radiation we could produce on Earth to cause that kind of degradation. Your skin would start peeling off before you lost any limbs. Hell, before your skin started peeling off you would start puking multiple times. Your body would feel unnecessarily hot and your eyes would burn. While it is true that radiation destroys things on an atomic level and CAN affect your DNA which CAN result in growth defects, it takes A LOT to cause this sort of biological destruction.
Was that from radiation?
Damn. She sounds like me.
I knew she was my favorite character for a reason. (Then again I relate to almost everyone)

@FancyCat2008
Spoilered for you convenience.
I stared as the skin holding the wing slowly stretched like taffy and then broke, the wing splashing softly into the water beside her.
I stared at her standing in a daze. She didn’t know. “Glory…” I rasped, blood dripping down my chin. “Your wing…”
She looked at it lying there beside her. She slowly picked it up and held it in her hooves. “It fell off…” she said with a whimper, like a foal who’s favorite toy had broken. She started to shake, at first with tears… but then she threw back her head, laughing hysterically. “It fell off! It FELL the fuck off!” And with bloody tears she laughed and sobbed at the same time. “We’re going to die! We’re going to die! Please let us fucking die!”
Conscious yes, but almost unconscious if I can remember.
It was a maintenance tunnel if I remember right, and the wing fell off due to the effects of nasty magical energy stuff that weakens tissue. She was definitely still conscious when it happened, too.
And she was being dragged/carried when it happened?

Ehhhh… It’ll buff out.
Yup, same and exactly the sentiment for Morning Glory.
I mean, she’s my fav character… but that part was very… eugh
