There was a Taggting War here? This explains why the infidelity trope returned though, which has no sense, and should be removed. Human Twilight and Flash weren’t together, she literally cannot cheat on him, as he was with pony princess Twilight, not human Twilight(who obviously is on this picture). Again, this is like saying because twin A was with one guy, and twin was latter with another one, twin B would be guilty of infidelity…

The problem with Timber x Twilight, and Timber accumulated such a hatedom, ans drama in comments, aside from Die for Our Ship, is that even if Timber is more interesting than Flash in his introduction, the romance still isn’t wrote to well. Aside from stuff pointed out bellow, like SciTwi fairly immediately being heads over heals in love with Timber, and the girls(including Sunset) saying how great Timber is for SciTwi. From reading the novel, writing of the romance continues being not so good through most of the story.
 
Again, Timber barely notices Twilight’s emotional distress, and pretty immediately forgets about it. It’s notable, as Twilight was then in her WORST emotional shape, yet Timber didn’t contribute to making it better at all, or brought it up latter when he had the occasion, especially that he had to see Twilight behaving strange by them(ie being alone at night in the woods). Again, you could say he has his sister’s trouble on his head, but despite that, he found attention and time to flirt with a newly met girl, make jokes, etc. He should have time and attention to notice more his object of affection is at this point, in a INCREADIBLE mental distress
 
Compare it to Sunset, who knows SciTwi only a bit longer, but fairly quickly notices something is wrong about her, and tires to help SciTwi ALL the time since she noticed it. Again, I’m not saying here no pro SunsetSparkle/SciTwi x Sunset arguments(it has literally no chance at being cannon), only I write that Sunset is presented as behaving like a person who truly caring about Twilight, while Timber not so much. Again, it’s bad writing, but it’s just shows, and could be improved.
 
The above is also part of the problem Timber Twi Romance has NO weight on the overall storyline. Neither Timber’s storyline with his Gloriosa ans the Everfree Forest aren’t affected at all by this romance, nor is SciTwi’s emotional arc.  
If we count on how important are character for resolving SciTwi’s emotional arc, Sunset Simmer contributes like 80%, the rest of the girl about 20%, and Timber 0%.  
No really, can anyone point me ONE way Timber contributed to SciTwi overcoming her problems in the end?
 
At least Princess Twilight’s relationship with Flash had some contribution to the overall story.  
In the first movie, Flash helped to prove Twilight as innocent, while in Rainbow Rocks, him affected by Dazzlings, caused Twilight emotional distress, making for her even harder to write the counterspell.

Well, I’m critiquing Timber-Twilight, as the movie who introduces it is hypocritical in the first place. Legend of Everfree and Friendship Games, made fun of how unrealistically quickly Twilight and Flash fallen in love, with the interactions between Human Twilight and Flash, but Legend of Everfree, hypocritically, set’s up the Timber-Human Twilight relationship, the same way.

The problem is, that there is also MORE bad writing attached to the Timber-Human Twilight relationship.  
The girl all trow praise at Timber, after knowing him for literally less than 5 minutes, and describing how great he is for Twilight. And they couldn’t even hear the conversation between Timber and Twilight, they were to far away. This a bad writing trope called Character Shilling, common for bad fanfics. Especially that this how Timber was INTRODUCED, which usually, happens with Mary Sue OCs. Or in professional works, Creator Pet characters, the fans hate.(the the writers WANT us to hate Timber?).
 
If you go at the main page of the “Legend of Everfree” on Tv Tropers, it outright describes this as Character Shilling. Which is impressive(if in a bad way…).:
 
“Character Shilling: Timber Spruce is described by the humane 5 and Sunset Shimmer as very cool guy who would be great for Twilight, despite the girls literally meeting him for the first time a few minutes ago, and from this leak, it seems this trend continues up to the very end of the movie .”
 
Still not convinced? About character defilement, you can argue Sunset motivated Twilight to be with Flash in Rainbow Rocks, but the thing is, Sunset knew Flash very well, and for a long time, and with Timber, Sunset didn’t even talk ONCE with him at this point.
 
There is again, the fact the relationship is plainly creepy, not cute. Again, as I written before Timber(who is almost certainly an adult), abuses his role as a camp counselor, by flirting with Twilight(a minor). And he isn’t even subtle about it.  
Such behavior is between unprofessional to outright immoral, depending on who you ask. And Equestria Girls, is officially targeted towards officially young to teen girls, and really gives some unfortunate patterns for relationships to those girls, who may see a figure of authority using them sexually, as a normal thing.
 
Do you like maybe Timber x Twilight due to the Birds of the Feather thing? Well the problem is, they really aren’t. The only thing in common that they, is that they are smart, but Human Twilight is socially awkward and has psychological issues, and was the unpopular, uncool girl, while Timber is outgoing, and seems without any emotional baggage, and is the popular cool guy. And even Timber being smart, was screwed up by the writers. Timber made a elemental mistake regarding the etymology of the word “sapphire” - the latin sapphirus - means JUST sapphire , not blue, as Timber claims. Anyone trully interest in geology, or a related subject, would never make such mistake.
 
Again, if the writers WANT to have better relationship, it should be build up through the movie, not made still a love at first sight.
 
Yes, Flashlight is quite flawed, but Timber-Twilight is so much worse, as it has more bad writing attached, along with unfortunate implications, as a cherry topping. It’s a crime for Timber to impress a girl in first few minutes, but somehow totally okay for Flash to do so. Oh the hypocrisy.

Yes, but from what we saw from Human Twilight, such crush doesn’t exacly seem to be in her character, and again, even if you argue it would be, it doesn’t excuse the amount of bad writting, ie character shilling. Again, the girl literally don’t know Timber AT ALL, only literally met him less than FIVE MINUTES AGO. It’s just unrealistic this was enough for Timber to impress Human Twilight enough, for her to crush on him.
 
And again, Timber failed to be presented as smart guy, and impressing with his knowlege - Timber made a visible mistake regarding the etymology of the word “sapphire” – the latin sapphirus – means JUST sapphire, not blue, as Timber claims. So yes, they even FAILED to really show him as smart guy.

Granted, most everyone has had a crush on an adult/authority figure at least once, but God forbid Sunset and company move on from teasing to encouraging Twi to pursue the relationship.

I mean, really, the only way the Twilight x Timber romance, and how the girls reacted to it, realistically would be if the magic of the Everfree Forest, somehow affected their minds, considering the amout of out of character behaviour invloved, among this, and the unfortunate implications NO ONE in the movie doesn’t see.
 
And about unfortunate implications, Tv Tropes describes it I think the best:  
“Unfortunate Implications: Human Twilight Sparkle and Timber Spruce have, at least, a mutual crush on each other; Timber flirts with her, and Twilight certainly doesn’t mind. The problem with this seemingly innocent setup is that Timber Spruce is some form of camp authority, which means he’s likely an adult, an undetermined number of years older than the very canonically non-adult Twilight. While the specific aspect of age can be mitigated by the many forms of Values Dissonance regarding acceptable age gaps between people dating, there really isn’t much to excuse the aspect of his status as some form of authority over Twilight, however temporary. Timber’s behavior can be seen as unprofessional at best, though it would likely lean towards outright unethical. Worse, all of Twilight’s friends can clearly tell she’s crushing on Timber, and react to this development positively.
