What? They set the precedent for what the changelings were during the wedding episode. Tricksters that relied on kidnapping and deceit to steal love as a food source. It’s not like what has been suggested goes off the rails.

Just so you know I’m not trying to argue one way or the other being better. You’re free to prefer it the way it turned out. I don’t see anything “wrong” with either way. I just don’t prefer the change.

I honestly can’t think of a correct response to this that isn’t a Rule #0 violation; they’re just all unflattering all the way down the page.

I think I would have liked it more if the changelings remained evil. I kind of thought of the changelings like the dark elves of MLP: A bad-guy race that the audience sincerely enjoys as-is. Yet a race where everyone wants to make an original character of that defies the values of the race itself and turns into the rhetorical Dritzz.
 
I think the popularity of the changelings is what brought them around to this reformation. I’ve read very few fics that included changelings (as more than nameless adversities) who didn’t either start off ‘different’ or come around to changing sides. Though I say that with uncertainty since just about every baddie got reformed in this show anyway.
 
Now they’re all gummybear Dritzzes.

If Thorax had been a traitor in that episode, i do feel it would have ruined the intended message. I think it would have been quite interesting from a storyteller perspective as well. Sadly, it would have also ruined Spike. He put his reputation with The Crystal Empire on the line, swearing up and down that Thorax was good and to give him a chance. And then Thorax turns around and betrays him, betrays them all? The Crystal Ponies would never trust Spike again!
 
If they had gone that route then i would have wanted a tear-jerking, heartfelt scene in the finale where Thorax realizes what a horrible thing he’s done, turns into a legit good guy, and begs everyone for their forgiveness.
 
Which of course would have totally stolen Glimmer’s thunder in the finale. We can’t have that. xDD

Also, you don’t know if any of those changelings who were “having fun” were thorax, in fact, you don’t even know how many of the changelings were “having fun” and how many were just following orders.
