I think you haven’t post that thing about the sapphires in this comment section. But anyway, when he said sapphire comes from the latin sapphirus Twilight agreed with him, so if someone was wrong it should be the script writer, unless both Twilight and Timber are supposed to be wrong.
 
Yes, the Banner short is the only time we see him actually interacting with other characters and he show how important was his music to him. With Lyra and Bon Bon? That was just in Friendship Games. We saw them in the background more of the time and we never had a scene where they talk. We know they hang out but we don’t know how they interact nor what they talk about, the same with the members of his band. His scene with Derpy was for the sake of comedy, it was just to emphasize how pitifully confusing was his situation. Yes, the only interaction we have seen of him in the movies other than with the Twilights was when he talked with the Rainbooms in Rainbow Rocks. And what did he talked about? Twilight, he said they sound awesome and then he asked about Twilight, that’s it.
 
We have seen Timber interact with three characters so far and he has talked about something else than Twilight herself. Shit, when he talked about Twilight was when she was less impressed about him. I’m not saying Timber is a complex character by any means (this is a Equestria Girls movie for god sake), I’m saying we know more about his relationships (his world) in less than 10 minutes than we know about Flash Sentry’s in 3 movies and 1 short. That’s what give him more dimensions than Flash. Another thing it’s that you don’t like his character, that’s fair. I personally don’t want to discuss if he is a good or bad character until I have watched the whole movie.

Anyway, we saw Flash interact plenty with other characters too. Hell, even more than Timber has. Didn’t you see that Equestria Girls short involving him and two other guys making a banner? And then him interacting with Lyra and Bon Bon? Want about the other rockers? And Derpy? Then his interaction with the Rainbooms?
 
Yeah he totally hasn’t interacted with anyone else. And really, these “demensions” you see in Timber, I don’t see to really be there. I see a lot of people saying there’s depth to him but it sounds more like them wanting there to be and not really having it.

Timber is obvioulsy faking his coolness, he acts like a cool guy but seems like he is actually more of a nerd. See how he call himself cool yet when he tries to impress Bulk Biceps it doesn’t go too well. We also have seen him interact with other characters than Twilight for more than a few seconds, it’s not the same how he interacts with Gloriosa that how he interacts with Twilight. That makes him a character with more dimensions than Flash, who almost never interacts with other character than Twilight and even then it’s for a very short period of time.  
About their chemestry. When he talked with Twilight they actually had a topic in common. When Flash have talked with Twilight, and I mean Princess Twilight, they have only talk about themselves, they don’t share any interest.
