I know it’s a old comment but i hate when people make these kinds of assumptions. “if you think money don’t matter you don’t know real life”
I’m homeless and let me tell you that the exact opposite is true. It’s when you fall on hard times that you realize what truly matter in life.
Money ? Fuck money. Some of the people i regularly meet at charities and on the streets used to live in penthouses and had paychecks in the thousands. At the end of the day, money is just material, one day you can lose it all and everything you’ll have left will be regrets.
In “the real world” like you call it, money is what make us survive but Love is what keep us alive. It’s love that make a desperate situation just bright enough to keep you going.

So many people here are cold and cynical. Love cannot buy you food perhaps, but it makes any hardship in life infinitely more tolerable if the love is true. A wealthy person who is alone in the world may be miserable although he can buy any material thing he needs or desires. Isn’t there anyone you care about so much that you would rather have them than anything else?

Directly no, but how are you going to shelter and feed your loved one, with love?
 
In the real world, you can do alot more with money than you can with love.  
Very few people will be willing to “love” you if you can’t provide them with basic needs.
