I think Gaia is going to be a villain In the new movie legend of everfree.

we won’t know what actually happens in the book till it comes out :P
But the book IS the written version of the upcoming movie, so if they have an image of a more beneign Gaia on the front cover, I think we can assume that she’ll end up either being redeemed or not truly evil at the end.

Since the image we have of her from the book looks fairly beneign, and it looks likely that Gloriosa is Gaia’s “normal” form that she uses to fit in, Gaia was presumably a good character when she was put into the human world.
I’m thinking that Gloriosa/Gaia was either put into the Human world as a guardian to watch over the crystals (And then has been corrupted by it over time), or that Gloriosa was fighting against whomever the crystals were originally and was banished along with it due to pulling a heroic sacrifice of some sorts.
So banishing the Gems into the human world with Gaia/Gloriosa wasn’t a horribly Dangerous plan since they would have assumed that she wouldn’t be corrupted by them, like in EVERY story where the person in charge of watching over something evil ends up being corrupted

Does this actually happen in the book?

“Because I don’t live there!”

but in a more realistic sense, Starswirl banished the sirens there because there was no magic there initially and it robbed them of MOST Of their magic.
Same thing could go here; Normal humans can’t (presumably) use the magic enhancing crystals due to not having any magic to enhance (0 times 1000 is still zero after all), so the crystals SHOULD be decently safe, and they probably figured the crystals wouldn’t be found by the sirens.

Could be that they were banished to the human world by Either Celestia or starswirl the bearded.

They might either be a naturally corrupting force like the alicorn amulet, or be a crystal entity that was defeated and thrown into the human dimension where he shattered.

If the crystals are something that Enhances one’s magic but turns you evil, it could be callback to the alicorn amulet actually.

Woah, woah, woah.

I just realized something. So, gaia here is covered in like a few thousand crystals, yeah?
And her design is much different from how she looks on the book cover, right?

What if the “villain” of the movie is the crystals, and Gaia is being possessed by the crystals?

Pretty much.

I’m also betting the stories about all the stuff she did in the past wasn’t her outright being evil but being unable to control her magic.
