I had to read that post like seven or eight times to figure out what you were even trying to say there, so, uh… NO U, I guess? If what you were trying to say there is “the shadowy figure was not the real Pony Of Shadows, it was Tirek”, you’re still wrong, because that figure is not the silhouette or dark outline of a solid figure, it is literally a shadow being cast on a bookshelf– you can see the bookshelf through it. The glowing eyes are not inside a skull, they are on the books.
 
Tirek is not literally a shadow. Tirek is a solid figure, you can’t see books through him. His eyes are in a skull. When Tirek casts a shadow, it does not have glowing eyes in it, it is just an ordinary shadow.
 
Look at his pupils  
…And his eyes are black, with tiny yellow dots for pupils. The Pony Of Shadow’s eyes are solid yellow, with no pupils. G1 is 100% irrelevant– Applejack has three apples, not five or seven, and she’s never been a mutated dragon monster. Posey is a Pegasus. Megan doesn’t exist. There is no Rainbow Of Darkness.

No, you’re right, I mixed up “Tirek was still in Tartarus in S4” with “Tirek was still in Tartarus a thousand years ago when Nightmare Moon happened”, so he couldn’t very well be responsible for “When I was just a filly, Granny Smith told me of an ancient legend. When Nightmare Moon was banished, not every last bit of her dark magic went with her. Granny used to say, when night falls on the castle, that magic takes the form of… the Pony of Shadows!”.

Didn’t Tirek escape back in Season 2 when Cerberus left Tartarus in the episode “It’s About Time”? Because that makes sense to me.
 
And no, nobody said whether that was the case or not, but it’s a reasonable assumption to make, because Twilight did mention that somebody might escape Tartarus with Cerberus gone, and that’s what she gets for not telling Celestia about Cerberus leaving Tartarus, Tirek escaping and all.

Also, FFS why are people still going on about this, actually look at the last screencap– that’s not a _{~shadowy figure} with glowing eyes, it is literally a shadow being cast on a bookshelf. A shadow which has glowing eyes, inside the shadow.

It’s the same cloak, but it’s been re-designed in Twilight’s Kingdom.

I remember the staff saying that the final scene was nothing but a throwaway gag and the fandom was trying too hard to connect it with anthing to validate it’s own theories.

O.K., I must be misunderstanding you because the way I parsed that reads as if you just said that the fact that the cloak is different from the one in Twilight’s Kingdom means that it’s the same cloak as in Twilight’s Kingdom.

Well you guys, he made a new point with the cloak. Tirek at that time was so weakend, that he fits in the cloak, in height spoken. You must give him that.

This theory is my favorite in particular. It is backed up by even the smallest details, and makes a whole lot of sense when taking in the theme of the fourth season. Even the writers have made small jabs that this theory was in fact correct. Not to mention, the cloak is actually NOT reused in Twilight’s Kingdom - Part 1. Look closely, it is a different design as well. This backs up the theory even more.
 
I’ve always had this as my personal headcanon.
