You’re right…
Unlike most franchises. There doesn’t seem to be any explanation to how magic works in this show. Even though there are times when the show seems to have tried to hint at some formula behind the works of unicorn magic.
No, just no real talent for it. And partially as magic for unicorns seems to be a matter of concentration, it’s kinda hard to focus holding an ice cream if you’re with a gorgeous princess wouldn’t you say?
Way I figure too, much like pegasi have their weak fliers (either through physical or psychological reasons) then unicorns would likely be similar with their magic users. Problem is that there don’t seem to be any rules for how magic works here. One time it looked like it required incantations but then other times they can be copied just from seeing them once. And then with some it seems to be simply natural. Wish they’d explain it so I don’t have to work out a head canon for it (despite how fun that’d be).
Let me guess. A defective horn?
Most would fire magic lasers too but look at Rarity, she’s probably the best hoof-to-hoof fighter of the Mane 6.
Though in this image Azure had it with magic but his magic shorted out and he dropped it.
I thought most unicorns would instinctively levitate stuff.
Reflex?
