Absolutely. I’m sorry this escalated to this point. It’s just the crumbling of values of caring and kindness around me that upsets me and I’m lashing out a bit. If you want to ship those two, and you can see something there, who am I? Go for it and accept my apologies for being an ass.
 
I’ve written 5 Fimfic’s about Twijack. (You can image my joy when Hasbro released the bedroom set with the two of them in it.) All my stories reveal those two and how their love unfolds. I find they almost write themselves because of the strength of the relationship I see on the show. There are so many moments between those two that it increased my enjoyment tenfold. I suppose I’m stuck with that. You’ve convinced me that it’s fine to ship Twilight and Shining Armor even though there is no evidence on the show to support it. I’m glad you find enjoyment in it and love - something we need a lot more of these days…

I didn’t say that Twilight and Applejack falling in love was impossible. I just said I didn’t find it likely. I mean, you can ship whoever you want to. So if you like Twilight and Applejack, that’s fine. And yes, I’m using fimfic for rationale because I genuinely believe that they give a decent look into the ideas. I mean, that’s the point of fanfiction, to explore ideas we find interesting. And as for if I think having sex with your family could be okay, just because something is legal, doesn’t mean everyone would do it. I mean, cousin marriage is still legal in many states in the U.S., but even then it’s not a widespread practice. I’m not saying I would ever do this, mainly because there are no relatives I would ever even be remotely interested in. I don’t mind, say, Twilight and Shining Armor or Applejack and Big Mac because I actually feel like they could have a decent relationship. Again, take away the fact that they’re siblings, and they’d probably be some of the most popular ships. And just because I support an idea that you find wrong, doesn’t mean I’m some kind of fucked up. So please don’t try and put me into a stereotype when you have absolutely no idea who I am or what I’m like. And all this bickering is pointless anyway, because this isn’t even irl, heck it isn’t even in the freaking show. It’s a fan art that someone drew because they wanted too! In the interest of wrapping this up, I suggest that we agree to disagree. You find incest morally abhorrent, I find it okay in the case of between consenting adults. You can have your Applejack and Twilight, I can have my Twilight and Shining Armor. Okay?

I get the feeling I’m hitting a little too close to home here. If having sex with other members of your family is okay by you, then you go right ahead, then follow it up by chugging moonshine, drinking RC Cola, eating Moon Pies and barking at the moon. (I seriously doubt you’ll get that reference, but don’t worry about it)

Along the lines of Twilight being unsure and experimenting, that’s actually part of what makes me think she might go to Shining Armor. It’s not completely unrealistic for her to seek knowledge from her older brother. And to be fair, we don’t know her sexual preferences, or who she would be interested in romantically, so I’m sorry, but I don’t really see a strong argument for Applejack of all ponies. And as for Equestria’s moral code, it may be similar to ours, but it’s not exactly the same. What if incest between consenting adults is legal there? What if it’s almost seen as a bonding activity? We have no idea. This story: https://www.fimfiction.net/story/437734/estrus-gets-the-best-of-us for example, makes a pretty good case of how sex between siblings could actually be used for both education and bonding, exploring sex with somepony they’re familiar with before going out with others, and it creates even stronger connections between the siblings.  
And this one: https://www.fimfiction.net/bookshelf/1163138/sparklecest?page=3 I think does a particularly good job with how and why the relationships could actually come about, as well as their morals and implications.  
If you want to know about where I’d draw the line, I’m not a %100 sure. My main rule is basically everyone is consenting, no one’s getting hurt, and no one is getting taken advantage of. And there’s definitely some interpretation possible there. But still, I overall don’t see any major problem with 1. A simple depiction of incest 2. The act of incest between consenting adults, as is depicted here and 3. A bit of suspension of disbelief in thinking that the rules of Equestria are not exactly the same as our own. And I can still imagine a scenario in which this could realistically take place.

Pregnancy? Then it’s okay? Tell me, are you from Appalachia by any chance? Here’s one - if you were fucking your sibling, would you tell anyone? How about sex with one of your parents? If you were having sex with your mother would you tell your dad?  
With respect to the initial discussion, one of the compelling aspects of the show is that the implied moral code observed in Equestria is similar to ours. Having said that, it follows logically we can judge a Pony’s character based on their behavior. I would place Twilight’s character as an excellent example of a morally centered pony with high ideals. In terms of sex, Twilight Sparkle has such a strong aura of innocence that it would be far easier to make a case for prudishness on her part that any sort of lascivious behavior. In fact, she has to be TOLD that there is no wrong way to fantasize. I find it far more likely that Celestia would smile if Twilight came to her sheepishly asking masturbation was ok. Were she to tell Celestia that she was fucking Shining Armor, the reaction would involve a greater degree of shock than of revulsion (though there would be ample amounts of the latter) This perspective has never let me down - I have NEVER found her (or any of the other characters) behaving in a way that isn’t in line with my expectations. Can I see her having sex? ABSOLUTELY! However her introduction would be nervous and clumsy and she would be incredibly shy, but her curiosity about it would make her pursue it. I can see her and Applejack experimenting together, (after all, they have the most mature relationship of the six and they trust each other implicitly) reading about masturbation and trying it together…
 
Now if you’re going the whole “cartoon pony” thing where anything goes, then that’s all you have - cartoon ponies with no personalities or backgrounds etc. doing anything with anypony at any time for any reason.  
I find the show much deeper.

Well if we’re talking about humans IRL, the only reasonable place to draw the line is at pregnancy- don’t produce children from incest and there is no problem. If you’re talking about equines IRL, then there is no line at all- breeders regularly inbreed horses to produce the desired results, and there’s no increase in the risk of birth defects due to their substantially higher chromosome count.
 
Now if you’re talking about magical brightly colored ‘ponies’ then the answer is “who the fuck cares they aren’t real” with a side helping of “there is no wrong way to fantasize”

I mean, Starlight Glimmer would probably be in jail if it was the U.S., actually most of the main characters would. The law isn’t perfect. In fact, no moral is. It’s literally impossible to be morally objective.

What about this is dark? Sure, it’s socially taboo, but that doesn’t make it dark. No one’s getting hurt, and they seem to be having fun, so who the hell cares? I mean, look past the fact that they’re siblings, and Shining is basically just an older version of Flash Sentry. And he’s even more of a dork, which honestly just makes him seem like an even better match for Twilight. So it’s not really impossible, and I don’t think it really requires a “hidden dark side” to the characters.
