I’ve heard a lot of people mention MJ’s skin color, and occasionally joking about it, but I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone actually criticize him for it. This implies that people didn’t like him specifically because of his skin color change and not the many other reasons one might dislike him.

If you never thought you’d see that here, you are either completely new to the Internet or you haven’t been paying attention to how the Internet works. Also I like how you worded it to sound like he intentionally ran someone over, when in reality it was an accident. He wasn’t even speeding, it was just ‘too fast for present road conditions’. That’s a misdemeanor manslaughter charge that generally results in a 1 year prison term. There’s a huge difference between that and what you implied.  
I find it amusing how people that think they’re morally upright constantly attempt to mislead people in order to push their agenda. Just say “I think they’re icky.” and be done with it. Don’t make us send Applejack after you.
