Yeah, “The One Where Pinkie Pie Knows” is the one that Berrow wrote.

Pinkie Pie and the Rockin’ Ponypalooza Party! was written by G.M. Berrow. “The Mane Attraction” was written by Amy Keating Rogers. Am I missing something here?

“The Mane Attraction” made a direct reference to the events of Pinkie Pie’s chapter book. Though granted, the chapter books have almost always been considered more canon than the comic books. And indeed, you’re still probably right in that the show probably won’t reference the comics.
That being said: while the show is an unlikely possibility for it, there’s no reason why Spike, Mina, and Ember can’t meet up in the comics. ^_^

… Sure? That is why I brought up porn and romance as well.
I just don’t think the show will reference something from a “lesser” media source, as in a reference that only people who have read the comics (which is not most of them) will understand.
The only way I could see Mina being in the show at all is if they re-introduced her from scratch. Probably by adapting the comic story she came from. I’m sure it would be heavily modified though.
Of course, if you go that route, she’s not really that same character anymore.

Never say never. It’s certainly unlikely, but in this day and age nothing is truly impossible.
