As far as I know, the highest specific output in any production car is below 200 hp/l. This engine has almost twice that. It could be good for a couple 1/4 mile runs, but I wouldn’t expect of it to be reliable enough for street or even any circuit races longer than one lap
Besides, if you want a high hp car, get a goddamn corvette. Miata was never supposed to be that sort of a car
*ok, my bad - apparently some rx7s made 215 hp/l, and koenigsegg jesko (which is hardly normal, by any standards) makes 315 hp/l

Yeah, but they don’t have that speed demon look…
Miatas can make 700+ hp done right, and you can easily swap a v8 in ’em too.

Have you driven one of those things? It’s nice, light, fast on the acceleration, and rides like a go kart. It’s amazing. If only it wasn’t around $30k for a base model and poor on gas…
I would drive that car home so fast if I had the money.
