Well, that’s not too far off, actually. Fae and changelings are pretty closely connected in folklore.

TIL that the myth of the changeling - of faeries replacing a stolen human child with their own - could have been born as an explanation of autistic children. Many traits associated with faeries, such as obsessive counting, are also known in the autism spectrum.

True enough. But the volume of bad fans shouldn’t really matter. For example, I love most Sonic games (because of the blind Sonic fans who love EVERY Sonic game, like, EVER, I must specify. Sonic 06 and Rise of Lyric are terrible. Though I admit, they’re entertaining to play in that “Let’s see how badly we can make this train wreck” kinda way.)
 
I don’t really care what the more…bizarre fans do. I like (most of) the Sonic games. Me, I like (most of) the FNAFs. The only one I felt truly disappointed by was 3. That one just felt…MEH. But then 4 and World happened, and those were stronger games overall.
 
Point is, don’t let the bad portions of any given fanbase be the only reason you don’t like something. ‘Cause there’s bad fans of FiM too, yet I still love the show, pertinent to bring that up here, yanno, the site we’re on.
