I’m thinking more of Eberron – you know, airship powered with fire elemental (or other spells/enchantment) core engine, magrail-type locomotive achieved by powerful levitation spell, etc. So in this case, magical protection spell stored in the enchanted device, triggered when she hit things and forming a localized protection barrier around her fists/hooves. So essentially she’s punching anything in front of her with a force field. Maybe.

That, or it could be magical in nature. An enchanted enhancement of a sort. I always imagine that Equestria is a predominately magitech nation.
They could be bionic muscle augmentations, given her battlefield role.
