No one actually means it anymore. The more people get sick of it, the more I know that the fandom actually cares about AJ now.

To be honest I’m not sure Rarity really does get as many good supporting roles in episodes as Applejack does.
She tends to draw too much of the focus towards her for that when she’s not just being used for on the side gags to really fit into that role.
So I think she more tends to be either the most important or not at all important with little in the middle ground.
To be fair, it is a really tired joke.
& for some reason the “Rarity is a background pony” joke isn’t trotted out nearly as often even though she really has had as much or more claim to the title.
It’s also weird because even when Applejack’s not the focus she tends to have a really solid supporting character role.
Jokes that I might be tired of, others might see as the funniest thing ever, so I can’t really fault them for that.
I thought Applejack’s rock doll was pretty cute in the episode I saw it, but it seems like something that’s easy to overdo.
Sure isn’t an Applejack related image without someone just being unable to resist busting that tired gem out huh. Man this fandom will never cease to suck about that.

Right, I think I might’ve overreacted to @RIG there. I made this meme just to poke fun at how funny and ridiculous this whole Applerock thing became, albeit my point on it being a bit stale still stands. This ain’t a hate post against Pixelkitties.
