Frankly, I don’t feel offended at all, but I certainly don’t mind sticking in a sexy sisters sandwich!

Meh. After the American Civil War, the confederate flag lost all real meaning, because the confederates lost, so, the Confederate States Of America ceased to be (152 years ago) and the United States Of America triumphed, continuing on to this day.

Two comments on this.

Firstly and most importantly: Great artwork I like this piece. Keep it up.

Secondly, time for a mini rant.

For a long time in the UK the St George’s cross has been called a “racist” symbol. How a national flag of a modern country can be considered so is in most cases, rather stupid and disrespectful.( I do know a lot of the reasons for this to have occurred - mainly due to football hooligans during the 70’s and 80’s).

True the flag of Nazi Germany is a symbol of that hideous regime and is a lesson in what can happen when people buy into propaganda, lies and outright intolerance/hatred.

Trying to alter the history and culture of a nation to promote a political view point, no matter how “liberal” it may be, is the start of a very dark and dangerous path.

“Those who fail to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat it” is a quote that a lot of our current generation of vocal and unfortunately violent activists should remember.

Georgia’s current flag looks close to the original Stars and Bars, yes. It is, however, slightly different in what is placed in the top left corner.

Again, I’d like to point out that the flags currently being screamed about are mostly the ones you’ve seen painted on the General Lee, as that design is the most popular.

@yoso
You mean the first “Stars and Bars”?

Man, I have to admit. I’ve never actually seen that flag flown anywhere; not the original anyway.

It’s always the usual stereotypical Confederate flag, otherwise known as “Whatever was painted on the General Lee”. For most people anyway.

Not that it’s much of a defense for me, but again… Kentucky. It’s what I’ve got to go on when I’m not out of state.

No, I’m pretty sure I could still ignore it. I’ve found the entire “controversy” to be pretty contrived from the start. The way I see it, there’s around five parts to the argument:

Person 1: “Is it racist?! It’s racist, right?!”

Person 2: “Is it about southern pride?!”

Person 3: “Is it about American history?!”

Person 4: “I JUST WANNA STIR THE POT AND START SHIT!”

Person 5: “I’m uninformed and Person 4 just told me about it a few minutes ago!”

Me: “I just want all of you to shut up. It’s a flag from a nation that lost a revolutionary war and no longer exists. Unbunch your panties and move on, I’m leaving; I have some pony fanfiction to write.”

~ ~ ~

Also, Person 4’s response to Person 5:

Person 4: “YAY! POT-STIRRING OFFICIALLY SUCCESSFUL! ELITE-LEVEL TROLLING, TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!”

I live in Kentucky and we’ve been seeing a lot of flag controversy involving the stars and bars too. I mostly just ignore it.

Dem some sexy apples, by the way.

The End wasn't The End - Found a new home after the great exodus of 2012

@Wryte
The main problem with that idea though is that most of the Southerns who died in the war didn’t own slaves, they were poor small hold farmers. Shelby Foote brings up an excellent demonstration on the difference of views about the war in his quote “single, ragged Confederate who obviously didn’t own any slaves.” When asked by a group of Yankee soldiers why he was fighting, the Rebel replied, “I’m fighting because you’re down here”. Which according to Foote “was a pretty satisfactory answer.”

while i see your point, it’s still a fairly uneducated statement. The civil war was started because the confederate (south) wanted to secede because they weren’t being given the same type of rights as the non-confederate (north) states. Slavery wasn’t even really a key topic to the war, but it was one of the things that the confederate states said that they would keep if they became their own country.

Now i by no means am saying that slavery isn’t the terrible crime that it thankfully became today, but the fact that this country can see that as the only legitimate reason for the confederate flag’s existence is just as stupid as the southern racists waving the flag for their own messed up morals.

again, i apologize for ranting on your porn. have a nice rest of your day.
