they say crimes are Opportunity + Desire. which whittles down to any action actually(wait does this mean anything and everything is technically a crime?).  
Now, me personally, I can directly control one of those variables, and only one of those variables. and If I decide to play risky with that one variable that I have control over, it is my fault if chance does not favor me. I’m not a shark dentist for a reason. now of course the actual aggressor is definitely in the wrong if she takes advantage of my risk, but If I have the power to take actions to prevent any opportunity from presenting itself or atleast take measures to cover the risk(the second amendment is such a lovely idea, it’s like our founding fathers were thinking of us), it is my responsibility to look out for myself. even if the opportunity I am presenting is looking nice and the risk is some guy that I dont find attractive finds me attractive and asks me out for coffee in an elevator.
 
now you might say we should get rid of the desire, which I thoroughly disagree with. no one has any right to control anyone but themselves(and perhaps their children, so long as they arent abusing their control over them). 1984 is a warning not a prophosey and I’ll be damned if I allow thought crimes to become a reality. now having the general consensus commending certain actions and damning others can influence desire, outright controlling it is such a despicable concept. I didn’t say I had a bad childhood, I only mentioned that thing about my Mother to emphesize how AGAINST rape, I am… I hate rapists. So to imply I’m some “asshole who thinks people deserve to get raped based on how they dress” is ridiculous to assume on your part…
 
I was pointing out you misunderstood what I was saying, and pointing out I never said anyone “deserved” to be “raped,” you pulled that out of your rear. I never said nobody deserved anything, and Splinter17 already ephesized what I meant. Obviously you didn’t see that. I was just saying if people (men or women) don’t want others flirting with them, then they shouldn’t dress “provokitively.” THAT’S ALL I WAS SAYING. If your brain can’t comprehend that, then I have no reason to bother explaining it further to you. Others have already made it clear, as well.

What an absolute bullshit defense for saying something shitty. Personal trauma doesn’t give you free pass to be exempt from being a decent human being– or act as a shield against criticism when you aren’t– any more than “But I had a bad childhood!” is a free pass out of a Murder charge. I got stabbed by a Black guy in a hoodie once, it sucked, but that doesn’t make it an excuse to go around saying random Black guys in hoodies on the sidewalk are just asking to get stopped and searched by the cops.
