Also, I never used the words “had good characters”, I specifically said no one complained about the movie having too many characters.
I… Did we even watch the same movie? What?
Look, you’re trying to support your argument by saying zootopia “had good characters”, but it didn’t. It had the leftovers of good characters, which resulted in one character being an antagonistic butt at the beginning of the movie and is still an antagonistic butt by the end of the movie with no reason to like him, and another character who abuses the law to further her own gains, is useless at the job she got through said gains, the only notable “good” thing she did was accidental, and she remains the same power abusing character by the end of the film.
There is no good character in either of them and it is not a movie you should be using to further your argument of “good character development”.
Why would they not give that type of promotion to major new characters? Why does that tell you that hasbro thinks they’re celebrities? Besides, they’ve had enough major roles to at least be recognizable, so I don’t see the problem
[bq]The type of press release.[/b1]

The promotional images of the characters are being launched with a mugshot of their VA on Hasbro’s Facebook page. This is as opposed to showing off some of the characters and then mentioning a VA or two; this is big time promoting, like celebrity type promoting.
The type of press release.
You really think the first two episodes of MLP “developed” the mane 6 beyond their archetype? And yes, I’m taking a proverbial best case scenerio of FOCUSING on each one enough that we know enough about them to LIKE them. A villain can get away with a shorter role and simple motives, but doing that gives us “The Crystal empire”; remember how people “loved” King Sombra? It wasn’t until the comics and the fracture timeline episodes two seasons later that we even had ANY development around him and for the most part, people hated him because of how shallow he was. And again, I stress that, if these are just brief side characters, why is hasbro shelling out money in production to hire and promote “well known” VAs?
Close. Flash was there for a scene that helped prove twilight was innocent, then suddenly, Twilight is “downright smitten” with him. He got no more development than that.
Again, i’m stressing; if these characters aren’t 3 dimensional, why is hasbro shelling out so much money on production advertisements of their VAs?
The characters alone can sell toys “because they look cool”, but why the focus on the VA’s if they are NOT main characters?
How and where are they doing that? Announcing the names of the voice actors of major characters does not count.
What does that have to do with anything?
you’re assuming they will all have equal screen time, and that they will share no scenes. That’s not how it works. It’s also not fair to compare antagonists and side characters in a movie to recurring characters in a tv show because tv shows are paced completely differently. Even if it was, lets compare the first 2 episodes of the show, which introduced and developed 6 characters in only 45 minutes. Multiply that by two and you have 12 characters in 90 minutes, except we have already developed the mane 6 and only need to introduce them, so that leaves even more time for the other 6. And before you mention the development they had in all the other episodes, you cannot expect that level of development in a movie for any characters.
Except flash only had about four short scenes, and he played no role in the plot whatsoever. And not every character has to be 3 dimensional, they just need enough personality to properly fulfill their purpose in the story.

Re-read what I said.
The fandom is not promoting the VA’s, Hasbro is and is promoting them as if they are household names, of which only one is, and even then, only slightly. The fandom didn’t dig up the characters, hasbro released images of them. The fandom didn’t pick a singer, Hasbro did.
The most critical problem, however, is that with so MANY new characters, it’ll be impossible to give them all enough character outside of a one-dimensional archetype. Take a look at how long it took to develop Gilda, Luna, Starlight Glimmer, trixie, and all of them took a lot longer than 20 minutes. Now, do the basic math and lets just assume each of these new characters gets a focus of about 20 minutes. That’s 6 x 20, meaning 120 minutes, that’s two hours. The movie is not going to be that long because “little kids won’t sit still for that long”.
The fact of the matter is that they will be an archetype and mostly risk having as much character as flash sentry in the first EQG movie, which was none, regardless of how important to the plot they may be.
So wait, because the fandom is focusing heavily on these voice actors, that somehow means the movie is doing the same thing? I don’t understand your logic. Nothing about the news released stated how much screen time songbird serenade had or her role in the movie, and even if she did have a major role, why is that a problem if she’s written well? And the only ones who are acting like the other voice actors are household names is the fandom, and regardless, that has nothing to do with the movie itself. You’re not making any sense.
The heavy focus on promoting a pop singer no one knows about/likes and acting like all these new character’s VA’s are household names.
What “Information”?
Just discovered it and the information available doesn’t make it look promising in the slightest.
Why not, and why now?
Still not thrilled about this movie.
(Gif spoilered for the epileptics)
Probably half way through, they probably have finished a majority of the animation and are now in the editing and scoring process.
