If by “fanfic” you mean “Wander Over Yonder: The Good Deed”, that’s actually an episode from the latest series from Craig McCracken and Lauren Faust. You might be able to find it online, but Disney’s pretty good at getting episodes of their shows pulled offline.

Look Before You Sleep might be another good example. Twilight was trying to do what was best for Equestria, and she couldn’t let the matter go.
If being a princess allows Twilight to revisit old lessons and apply them to new settings, then I think this change will be positive.
Also, my hope is that, as you say, she will not flaunt or expect pomp or the like, but will take a more vested interest in the well-being of Equestria - eg, gone is the aloof Twilight of “Look Before You Sleep”, and one that will run to try to fix every problem.
Which can humorously prey on Twilight’s OCD. (Wander over Yonder “The Good Deed” is a perfect example of how this can go humorously wrong).
A lot of this has to do with the visual medium.
Twilight has always held a position of authority higher than her friends. As Celestia’s protege, she could invoke royal authority and carry out Equestrian business. We just didn’t fixate on that because she was still a unicorn and never flaunted her position.
Now, however, her elevated title is a physical part of her. Even though I still expect her to act with humility, we’ll be reminded of the difference through her taller pose, longer horn, and wings. That makes some fans uncomfortable.
So, if she’s in a position of authority equal to Celestia’s, but she’s not called “princess”, she’s still equal to her friends; but if she’s in a position of authority equal to or less than Celestia’s, but she’s called “princess”, she’s above her friends?
