Today I learned what content-aware scaling is.
I knew it sounded familiar, I have seen that video. This explains the messed up images found under this tag.
I watched that video and it blew my mind.
Amazing.
Cool, too bad I don’t have Photoshop.
Well. It’s good for the artists out there.
It’s a scaling technology that’s supposed to let you rescale images in a way that favours preservation of detail by removing flatter areas of colour first. This video was doing the rounds a few years ago when it was at a demo stage, and now it’s a standard part of newer versions of Photoshop and other programs. Using it to do things it wasn’t designed for, like rescaling cartoon images, or repeatedly downscaling and upscaling as happens here, makes for some interesting distortions.
It’s a photoshop plugin that screws up gifs.
