Actually real horses are one of the few animals who do sweat.
Also horses can eat candy, or at least certain types. I’ve heard of plenty of people feeding horses sugar cubes, and I’ve never heard of a horse dying from eating candy of any kind.
Spike mentioned that he “likes grass and stuff just fine”, so it’s probably safe to assume they eat grass on occasion.
