According to one of the directors for Legend of Everfree, they’re actually 16-18. Twilight Sparkle is between 16 and 17, according to the same director. And if the age difference between them is one year like in Equestria, Pinkie Pie is also between 16 and 17 and Fluttershy between 17 and 18.
When I first saw this picture, I thought we were gonna a stand-alone spin-off, kinda like Pony Life. But then they had to bring the ‘actual’ Equestria into this. Now all got was a rip-off of Monster High and The Winx Club.
I remember the circumstances surrounding this. We were coming off a mediocre Season 3 and there were doubts that MLP was going to continue (since Season 3 brought the show up to the minimum syndication total of 65 episodes). They had given Twilight wings and said she was a princess and people were already on edge and then this. This shows up and suddenly all those rumors of a humanized MLP spinoff could possibly come true.
Agreed. 10 years later and here we are…
today’s exactly one decade ago

The gulf between Season 3 and 4 was a dark time.
