Y’know, this may not necessarily be as bad as it looks for the citizens of Equestria.
 
Assuming this takes place after Magic duel, Trixie may have put on the Amulet for good reasons, like to help out her friends with a new threat. The situation would have to be very dire and Trixie would have to convince Zecora she can resist the Amulets corruption now that she knows to expect it. But it’s possible.

That has to be one of the most well-written Bad Ends I ever read. I don’t think the Alicorn Amulet is a more powerful artifact than the Elements of Harmony though. Pity we never got to find out for sure, and never will now.

Having never taken the alicorn amulet off, Trixie becomes a goddess stronger than the elements of harmony, able to withstand giant rainbow lasers. Great and powerful isn’t good enough for her anymore. Instead, she prefers to go by “The Majestic and All-Powerful Trixie”. All of this came with a price: her soul. The amulet’s influence makes her the most evil villain in the show (even Chrysalis wasn’t as evil). The real trixie, having lost control of her own body, wishes she never put on the amulet, and cries for help (but nobody can hear her). Unable to stop the amulet’s influence, she loses hope.
 
Despite all this, the real Trixie was able to send one last message to Twilight, having regret putting on the amulet. Knowing that Trixie cannot control herself anymore to take it off, Twilight attempts to use the elements one more time to turn Trixie into stone. This ends up backfiring and turns Twilight and her friends into stone.
 
Trixie, now just a shell of the amulet’s power, begins to cry inside endlessly, as all hope is lost. Nobody was able to stand up against her. The royal sisters were banished to the sun and moon. The crystal empire has been destroyed. The statue of Twilight and her friends has been shattered into millions of pieces, and scattered across time and space, making it impossible to be restored. Even Discord and Starlight didn’t stand a chance against her, nor did any artifact. If someone tried to use Grogar’s bell to drain her of her magic, the bell would explode and all the magic contained in it would go straight towards the amulet. Forced to live inside the body of an evil tyrant, Trixie becomes suicidial and wishes she would die. Little did she know that the amulet makes her immortal, so she can never die.
