Oh yeah. I’ve gotten involved in modding communities for most games I’ve played, easily at least doubling how long I’ve been involved with those games, if not more. Some were only still alive because of modding.
DeLancie voices Alarak? Darnit, I already have mixed feelings about Alarak…that pompous jerkface…
Alarak, first ascendant of the protrolls.
Oh yeah, there is a modding scene isn’t there? I guess if the game allows it, then you always have the option to reshape it into what best suits you.
…
Come to think of it, modding is actually a pretty awesome way to draw a community in isn’t it? I mean I really only play(ed) Minecraft because I could mod in all sorts of interesting things’n’stuff made by the community. It also lets games like Fallout constantly churn out lots of new and interesting content. Hmmmmmmm…

:O Woah what? I never knew that! Wow, actors really get around when it comes to VA work, don’t they? Kinda reminds me of when I was watching some random clips from Dust an Elysian Tail, and realized that Elie Monty did VA work in it. Somehow I’d managed to play through those parts of the game without realizing that.
Eh. Those memorized build orders make it very old, very fast :q
I do against AIs on rare occasion, but that’s it. Also might get dabbling back into custom game modes soon. There’s this super fun game I loved, really old, Battlezone: Rise of the Black Dogs. Might import the rts aspect of that game into a custom starcraft 2 map sometime.
Or finish that cinematic “epic craft” mod I started dabbling with. Idea there was to make it more like supreme commander in respecting scales: make a single battlecruiser a game ender, a colossus able to take on, like, 5 tanks, etc. Etc, the scale the models and sound effects appropriately…
starcraft multiplayer relies on that.
but liek we’ve been saying, you can do single player just fine without, and it’s still a ton of fun!
I heard Starcraft is fast paced and relies on how fast you can press buttons. I do not like those kinds of games. I like being able to think through my choices without being rushed.
Arcon mode maybe; co-op might be fun as long as its not co-op vs.
this
screw multiplayer
Well hand-eye coordination is kind of important in Starcraft, it isn’t really everything. I remember back when I was interested in that game that the advice most pros would give to noobs was to focus on macro. Even if your micro sucked you (i.e. you weren’t very good at moving individual units around in battle) could still easily win a match by just out-producing your opponent (macro). Since macro is the slower/less APM-intensive aspect of the game, the importance of hand-eye coordination and reflex might be less than you think.
Or at least that’s what I understand of the lower-level play. At the highest levels, macro has been turned in to almost a science. Knowing the most efficient build orders and timings are a given. Handling economics isn’t as important because everyone knows (and can easily enact) all of the near optimal strategies. That’s usually when micro becomes a serious issue, and you start seeing players with a bajillion APM dominating the meta-game.
Why the fuck would you want to play the multiplayer. :V
The campaigns are where all the fun is. Leave the metagame to the koreans.
Eh. It bothers me greatly how the multiplayer skill can be measured in “actions per minute.” An RTS isn’t supposed to have much, if anything to do with hand-eye coordination and reflex… It’s supposed to just be strategy… I do like it, though, just not that part of it. Really could be a lot better if it were just normal for it to be a good deal slower is all.
If you enjoy RTS games at all, I would very strongly recommend playing it.
I think everyone knows this meme. I haven’t even played the game and I know about it.
You must place that in a power fieldShe’s placing that in a power field.
