I can really understand Babs being scared off by all this. Yeah, running off to join DT and SS wasn’t the best decision, but to a shy girl like Babs the amount of nerdy enthusiasm the CMC were throwing at her must of been terrifying.

I always saw her as such anyway.  
As far as implied ages in the comics, the one that surprised me was the Mayor.
 
Apparently she’s also in that late-20’s/early-30’s age group. Kind of explains a bit.

I think the comics imply that Cheerilee is in the same age-group as Shining Armor (and probably Big Macintosh) and Soarin.

Yeah, I kinda imagined her as a younger-adult teacher to in both universes. 20s, or 30s sounds about right.

There’s nothing to say that Cheerilee isn’t a fairly new teacher; I had several early-20s teachers in grade school.
 
I got the impression from Cheerilee’s ghastly ‘80s Flashdance Flashback that she was at that age when AJ et al were fillies, putting her at closer to Big Mac’s late-20s/early-30s level.

Well, to be fair the E.G. CMC are a bit older to. So it’s not meant to be a perfect mirror version of the ponyverse.  
(I must add, E.G. Babs actually looks kinda cool.)
 
I remember an episode implied Cheerilee might be the same age as the “mane 6,” (“Cutie Mark Chronicles”) yet in E.G. she’s a grown-up teacher in it. So the age gaps in the E.G. universe don’t reflect that of the ponyverse. Still there’s alot of debate about the character ages in the show, and in the E.G. movie.

Babs showed up in the 2013 Annual. Strangely, she was shown to be older than Applejack. Well, that’s Alternate Universe for ya. >>460260 and >>456711 for examples.

Maybe they just couldn’t think of anything to do with her in S4, or wanted to focus on other characters. Shame ’cause as you said Babs was kinda adorable, and the fact she was kinda timid, yet tough at times made her a bit unique. (Especially in design as you pointed out.) I like to think of her as the fourth Cutie-mark Crusader.
 
I hear she appeared in the comics recently though.

I like that she’s just not a copy pasted filly to be honest. Her being a bit chubbier makes her cute as hell. Hopefully she shows up in season 4. I think she’s one of my favorite newer character additions. I thought I read she was confirmed to not show up, but I really don’t see why not considering she showed up like 2 times or so already.
